The Howard Community Celebrates Howard University Day

“Howard has always been a significant part of who I am, from adolescence to my professional adult life,” La La Anthony.

Howard University hosted its annual homecoming celebration, commemorating the institution’s 150th anniversary. Howard homecoming 2017 was filled with fun, and the Bison spirit was through the roof. Alumni, friends, family and Howard students gathered to celebrate Howard University Day.

Howard University Day, which was officially proclaimed as a holiday in the District of Columbia by Mayor Muriel Browser, kicked off on October 21 with Howard University’s homecoming parade. LaLa Anthony lead the 2017 parade as Grand Marshall.

The energy was certainly in the air as the marching band marched down Georgia Avenue.  Following the parade was the football game, the Morgan State Bears and the Howard Bison contended. Ultimately, the Bisons dominated the field. The final score was 39-14.

Everyone was dressed to impress for Howard University Day, bringing out their best outfits. The celebration continued at the homecoming tailgate, which included great music, food and good vibes! This was definitely an event many Howard students won’t forget.
