Ben’s Chili Bowl celebrated its 60th anniversary with a free block party on Wednesday, August 22. The block party took place in front of the restaurant from 11 am to 3pm and included a rock climbing wall, bounce house for the kids, guest speakers, and live performances.
Attendees were also able to witness the unveiling of the “Ben Ali Way” street sign and the declaration of Ben’s Chili Bowl day. Later that evening, the Lincoln Theater hosted a gala in honor of Virginia Ali, co-founder of Ben’s Chili Bowl. The proceeds made on Wednesday went to the Ben’s Chili Bowl Foundation which donates money and resources to local DC neighborhoods and organizations.
